Ministry Formation and Identity
October 9 - 27, 2006 / 12 contact hours

Utilizing three online presentations, peer group interaction, and case study, this seminar provides a foundation toward developing one's ministerial identity in Health Ministries and an understanding of how to work collaboratively with other ministers.

Learning Objectives:

  • To articulate one's sense of "Call" to Health Ministries.

  • To assess one's leadership in nurturing and maintaining a collaborative system.

  • To articulate a pastoral understanding of the role of "listening" and "presence."

  • To identify ways to care for one's mental, physical, and spiritual needs while functioning as a caregiver.

  • To discern the place of Health Ministries in the mission of one's faith.



Theology of Health and Wholeness
January 8-26, 2007 / 12 contact hours

Utilizing three online presentations, peer group interaction, and case study, this seminar provides a theological foundation for holistic health as a basis for health ministry.

Learning Objectives:

  • To develop a comprehensive view of health.

  • To articulate a personal theology of health and wholeness.

  • To identify the meaning of faith and health in suffering and despair.

  • To recognize the role of "Community" in the maintenance of health.


Health Ministry Practice Models
February 5 - 23, 2007 / 12 contact hours

Utilizing three online presentations, peer group interaction, and case study, this seminar explores options and approaches for setting up a health ministry program and addresses practical, legal, and ethical issues involved with each model.

Learning Objectives:

  • To articulate the scope of a Health Ministries practice.

  • To develop a Health Ministries model for one's specific ministry context based on an assessment of that community's needs.

  • To reflect on ways to bridge discipline-specific values in order to facilitate a collaborative approach to Health Ministries.

  • To evaluate best practices in terms of legal and ethical boundaries in the context of Health Ministries.

  • To identify the strengths and weaknesses of various Health Ministries practice models.
