About
Louisville, Kentucky
We
have intentionally scheduled this
retreat in the fall so you can
add some recreational time to your
trip if desired. The following
description represents excerpts
from the Lousiville Visitor's Bureau.Long
known as home to the Kentucky Derby,
Louisville offers excitement, affordability,
accessibility and fun, 365 days
a year.
If
you can't enjoy the thundering
hooves of the world's fastest thoroughbreds
during race season, you can enjoy
tours of Churchill Downs and the
pageantry of the Kentucky Derby
year-round at the Kentucky Derby
Museum. But it isn't just horse
racing that Louisville is known
for. There are more than 90 attractions
to enjoy year-round.
For
the young and young-at-heart, there's
the thrill of Six Flags Kentucky
Kingdom, with some of the world's
fastest roller coasters, a water
park and a variety of rides and
games. The Louisville Zoo is a
4-acre, state-of-the-art facility.
Visitors
to downtown Louisville can enjoy
major family attractions within
just blocks of one another. The
Louisville Slugger Museum is home
to the world's largest bat and
features exhibits and a factory
tour. The Louisville Science Center
and Glassworks, a space designed
to house and showcase the work
of 50 glass artists, is also available.
The Belle of Louisville and Spirit
of Jefferson, the city's two riverboats,
are available for daily excursions.
If
baseball is your game, you simply
cannot miss a visit to Slugger
Field, home of The Bats. This stadium
is one of the finest minor league
ballparks in the country. With
over 2,500 restaurants, visitors
from around the world are astounded
by the variety and quality of fine
dining in the area. There are also
quiet cafes, coffee houses, ethnic
restaurants and casual eateries
to choose from.
Louisville
is within a one-day's drive of
nearly half the population of the
United States, the area is accessible
by I-65, I-71, and I-64. And Louisville
International Airport has nearly
100 affordable flights daily.
This
is just a sampling of Louisville's
rich and diverse offerings. With

hotels and fascinating attractions,
it remains one of the country's
best values.
