Dreams,
Journals, and Spirituality --
Presenter:
Alan Filippi, M.Div., BCC. / 12.0
contact hours
Dreams
reveal so much to us if we
give them a chance. They reveal
the forgotten depths of the
human being and even give us
glimpses of a spiritual world
that surrounds one as totally
as the physical one.
We
will playfully interact with
the dream and one another through
the three weeks and hopefully
have stimulated you to work with
the dream further after this
module has ended. They may raise
some initial questions at the
outset and that is also welcomed.

Finding
God in the Multiplex: A
Lenten Film Festival --
Presenter:
Daniel Kroger, D.Min.
/ 12.0
contact hours
All
of us have probably had
the experience of going to
a movie at the local multiplex
drawn by the review in the
local paper which mentioned
something of interest. We
go and are suddenly struck
by either the whole movie
or perhaps just a scene. This
three week seminar
is an online film festival
where participants
will
be
watching
three films, which may
either
be rented or purchased,
and discussing them through
an email discussion group
along with presentations
on the films.

Healing
Power of Stories -- 6
weeks
Presenter: Canon Marlin Whitmer / 24.0
contact hours / February 9-March 21, 2009
This
online seminar led by the
Rev. Canon Marlin Whitmer
will take the stories you
hear as a basis for reflecting
on metaphors and metaphorical
patterns. Also through the
metaphors and metaphorical
patterns we will make connections
with Biblical stories as
well as our own stories.
This on-going learning experience
will relate these fundamentals
of language and Word to pastoral
care and health care. Both
are grounded on listening,
language, and metaphor as
health care moves out into
the community with chronic
illness overshadowing acute
care.

Hope
and Wholeness --
12.0
contact hours / Facilitator:
TBA
We
have learned that hope can contribute significantly
to one's sense of wholeness and well-being. This
seminar provides the opportunity to participate
in an interdisciplinary collaborative learning
experience. Using email, members of the seminar
group explore the role of hope through reflective
dialogue around presentations by Myron Madden,
Howard Clinebell, and Kay Shurden in light
of their own experience and context. Through
this process the group benefits by learning
from one another as well as from the presentations.

Spirituality
and Mental Illness
Facilitator:
Rose Ann Briotte, M.Div. / 12.0

One
in five people in the United
States have or will have mental
illness sometime in their life.
More than five million people
in the United States alone suffer
from serious chronic mental illness.
Through
an interdisciplinary approach
integrating spirituality and
mental health, this seminar will
enable professional care givers
from the religious, medical,
therapeutic, and social work
communities to better recognize
and work with the diverse needs
of those who suffer from mental

who are close to them. Reflective
