Clergy of all denominations have gone through enormous change and redefinition, some of which has been by evolution. Much of it has emerged from the revolution of time, disputes, financial concerns, lack of support, and the myriad of other problems that present challenges. At the same time that profound change has been experienced, much remains the same. This workshop featuring presentations by Dr. Dick Gilbert will explore a new style of ministry that focuses on the three L's: leadership, learning, and leaping.

Seminar participants and presenters will share stories of their experience through email dialogue and identify issues of concern, history, definitions, theological statements, and models of ministry. Through this process the group benefits by learning from one another as well as from the presentations.

Presentations:

  • Healing the Holy Helpers Overview

  • "Clergy Health: Diagnosis and Treatment"
    by Richard Gilbert, Ph.D.

  • "Leadership ... lead and support or push and crush?"
    by Richard Gilbert, Ph.D.

  • Personal Survey and Goal Development Form
    by Richard Gilbert, Ph.D.

Learning Objectives:

Following this seminar participants should be able to:

    1. Describe an incarnational model of self and ministry

    2. List nine thesis statements that explore the theology of ministry and the challenges of ministry in today's world of ministry

    3. Discuss areas of self-awareness

    4. Identify ways to introduce wellness ministry into their work and vision.
