Whether
one is navigating through new stages of one's ministry career or adapting
to cultural change, lifelong learning is a critical part of the process.
This seminar will feature three presentations that will address why lifelong
learning is a concern, lifelong learning as a spiritual discipline, and
emerging
opportunities for lifelong learning. It will also feature a three week
email discussion providing participants with the opportunity to reflect
on the challenges of continuing professional education and develop a personal
lifelong learning
plan.

presentations have been prepared by Oates Institute
staff, Chris Hammon and Vicki Hollon, from their
collaborative research and dissertation on continuing education for
ministry, Thriving
in the Whirlwind. Rev.
Vicki Hollon
is the Executive Director of the Wayne E. Oates Institute. Chris Hammon
is Editor and Online Developer for the Oates Institute. Both are active
members of the Society for the Advancement of Continuing Education for
Ministry and committed lifelong learners.

contact hours) are expected to read the
presentations
and participate in the discussion by contributing at
least 2 email messages per week. One message is to reflect
on the presentations or case studies in light of one's personal
experience and context and the second is to respond to someone
else’s
reflection or inquiry. The evaluation form submitted at the
end of the seminar
serves as the CEU application. Following your submission of this form
you will receive your CEU certificate.
