Ministry in the Postmodern Matrix

January 7-25, 2008
Presenters: David Benson, D.Min.
and Chris Hammon, D.Min.

12.0 contact hours

This seminar is a three week collaborative journey combining film, text, and dialogue to explore the whirlwind of transition and change taking place in our culture and our collective perceptions, understandings, and experiences of the world around us.

It is an opportunity to gather in dialogue to reflect on this encounter with postmodernity in light of our own perspective and experience and to ponder the questions of what this mean for ministry in our various contexts.

Adapting to the cultural changes of postmodernity requires an understanding of this new worldview. Participants will explore perspectives on ministry within the postmodern matrix through dialogue around presentations and popular films.

Presenters:

Dr. David Benson serves as the Senior Pastor of Kingswood United Methodist Church near Atlanta, Georgia. An ordained elder in the UMC North Georgia Conference, he received his M.Div. from Emory University and his D.Min. from Drew University in Madison, New Jersey. A musician, artist, and life-long learner, Dave is recognized for his creative approach to worship and preaching.

Chris Hammon is the Administrator of the Oates Institute Online Learning Center and an Adjunct Instructor with the Doctor of Ministry program at Drew University's Theological School.
