There is a craft to sharing what we learn through publication. This seminar provides an introduction to writing for professional publication facilitated by the managing editor for the Oates Journal. This introduction will look at conceiving and researching ideas, proposing them to editors, and executing the writing at a professional level. While the focus will be on writing for professional journals, it will also address whitepaper and book publication as well as new self publication opportunities in blogs and books.

Dr. Chris Hammon

 

Dr. Chris Hammon is the Administrator of the Wayne E. Oates Institute's Online Learning Center, editor of the Oates Journal, and editor of the Wayne E. Oates Library Collection. He is an educator, storyteller, writer, and theologian.  He also serves as adjunct faculty at Drew University's Theological School in Madison, New Jersey, where he teaches narrative research and practical theology along with serving as a faculty adviser for Doctor of Ministry candidates in the Global Online D.Min. Program.

Prior to coming to the Wayne Oates Institute in 1998, Chris spent 20 years working as a writer-producer of educational media and television for various denominational agencies, health care institutions, and organizations. He is an award wining video writer and has been recognized by Who's Who Among U.S. Writers and Editors. His more recent publishing credits include The Clergy Journal and The Continuing Educator.
